Botanical Watercolor Classes

Fees - Each Class is $200, Materials Fee $35 = $235
I offer 3 different classes, Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, described below.
Each class is a one-day workshop from 9am-5pm and includes a lunch meal.

There are a maximum of 10 students per class. If your first choice date is full, you can go on a cancellation waiting list, or choose a different date.

This 1-day workshop is for novice to experienced painters; the class has something for everyone. We will work on the following techniques, relative to botanical watercolor painting, and apply them to your final project for the class.

Create volume and depth

Describe dimensions through subtle folds and wrinkles

Blend colors and create soft marks and exploding patterns

Paint flowing lines of stems and veins using brush techniques

Glaze or layer details without overworking your flowers

Color mixing on the paper

Paint blurry objects in the background

Illuminate your flowers with light and shadow

Convey curves on petals and define texture

This 1-day workshop is for painters with some watercolor experience. We’ll work more directly on these structural techniques, as they relate to botanical watercolors and apply them to your final project for the class.

This 1-day workshop is for the more experienced, advanced or adventurous painter. We will work through these different techniques in addition to the Phase 1 and Phase 2 topics and apply them to your final project for the class.
